1 • Agreement to these Terms

By creating an account, accessing Games Overload, uploading content, playing a game through the platform, joining a community, entering a league or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service and any policies expressly incorporated into them.

If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use Games Overload for an organisation, developer, studio or other entity, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2 • Accounts and account security

You are responsible for the accuracy of information attached to your account and for activity carried out through it.

• Keep your password confidential and use a strong, unique password.
• Do not share, sell, rent or transfer your account without written permission from Games Overload.
• Do not impersonate another person, creator, developer, studio or organisation.
• Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
• Keep your email address and gamer tag information reasonably current.

We may require additional verification for account recovery, creator privileges, moderation actions, high score verification, premium features or security-sensitive changes.

3 • Eligibility

You must be legally capable of entering into these Terms in the place where you live. If local law requires consent from a parent or guardian, you must obtain that consent before using the service.

Games Overload may introduce age gates, parental controls, content filters or additional restrictions for particular games, communities or features.

4 • Acceptable conduct

Games Overload is intended to be competitive, creative and social without becoming abusive or unsafe. You must not:

• Harass, threaten, stalk, bully or target other users.
• Post unlawful, hateful, sexually exploitative, fraudulent or deliberately harmful material.
• Attempt to obtain passwords, authentication tokens, private data or payment information from another user.
• Use bots, scripts, exploits, cheats or automation to manipulate views, ratings, high scores, league results, comments, favourites, follows or other platform metrics.
• Interfere with the service, probe security controls, distribute malware or intentionally overload infrastructure.
• Use another person’s copyrighted material, trade marks, confidential material or personal information without an appropriate right or permission.
• Create deceptive accounts or coordinated activity intended to mislead users about popularity, identity or endorsement.

5 • User content

You retain ownership of content you lawfully own. When you upload or publish profile images, profile headers, comments, channel materials, game descriptions, community posts, league information, screenshots, artwork or other content, you grant Games Overload a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, transcode, display and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, promote and improve the service.

This licence ends when the content is deleted from the service, except where retention is reasonably required for backups, legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, safety, moderation history or technical integrity.

You confirm that you have the rights required to upload the content and that our permitted use of it will not infringe another person’s rights.

6 • Games, game files and playable content

Games Overload may host, embed, link to or index games and game files supplied by creators, developers or third parties. A listing on Games Overload does not automatically mean that Games Overload created, owns, endorses or has independently audited that game.

• Creators are responsible for ensuring that uploaded or linked games are lawful and safe.
• Game files must not contain malware, credential theft, hidden miners, destructive code or undisclosed tracking designed to bypass user expectations.
• External game URLs may be subject to separate terms and privacy practices.
• We may scan, quarantine, remove, disable or refuse a file or game when we reasonably believe it creates a security, legal or platform integrity risk.

7 • Creator channels and developer accounts

Creator and developer features are tools for publishing and community building. A creator must accurately describe their relationship with a game, studio or brand.

Creators must not claim official status, licences, partnerships, endorsements or ownership that they do not have. We may request evidence of rights, identity or authority before granting verification or restoring disputed content.

Creators are responsible for support commitments, game disclosures, external links, promotional claims and any commercial arrangement they make with users outside Games Overload.

8 • Ratings, reviews, views, achievements and high scores

Ratings, views, favourites, achievements and high scores are community and platform signals. They are not guarantees of quality, skill, popularity, commercial performance or suitability.

• Users should rate games based on genuine experience.
• Creators must not purchase, coerce or fabricate ratings.
• High scores may be marked as verified, unverified, disputed or removed.
• Games Overload may recalculate, normalise or exclude metrics where manipulation, duplicate traffic or technical error is detected.
• Achievement information supplied by a user may be self-declared unless specifically marked as verified.

9 • Leagues, series and competitive scoring

League tools allow users to organise single-game competitions or a series of games. League owners and administrators are responsible for entering results accurately and applying any league-specific rules fairly.

Unless a league states otherwise, Games Overload league tables are recreational community features. They do not create a gambling product, prize entitlement, professional ranking or legally binding sporting result.

• Do not use Games Overload leagues for unlawful gambling or wagering.
• League administrators may correct genuine scoring mistakes.
• Games Overload may remove manipulated or abusive competition data.
• Participants should resolve ordinary rule disputes with the league owner before asking Games Overload to investigate platform abuse.

10 • Friends, communities, comments and social features

Friend requests, communities, comments, follows and messaging-style features are intended to help users connect around games. You control whether to accept a friend request and should use privacy controls appropriate to your circumstances.

Public profile information may be visible to other users and, where the platform permits, to visitors or search engines. Do not post information that you do not want shared with the relevant audience.

11 • Free and premium subscriptions

Games Overload may offer free, premium or creator subscription tiers. The features, limits and prices of a paid plan will be shown before purchase.

Where recurring billing is introduced, the checkout flow will state the billing period, renewal terms, applicable taxes and cancellation method. Statutory cancellation and consumer rights remain unaffected where they apply.

We may change future plan features or pricing. Material changes to an active paid plan will be communicated as required by applicable law.

12 • Games Overload intellectual property

The Games Overload name, logo, visual identity, website design, source code, platform software, databases, original editorial content and other materials supplied by Games Overload are protected by intellectual property laws.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of Games Overload intellectual property to you. You may use the service for its intended purpose but may not copy, sell, reverse engineer, scrape at harmful scale, create a misleading replica of the service or use our branding in a way that suggests endorsement without permission.

13 • Moderation and reports

Games Overload may review reported content and may use automated and human signals to protect users and platform integrity. We may hide, remove, restrict, label or preserve content when reasonably necessary.

Moderation decisions may consider context, repetition, severity, legal obligations, safety risk, account history and attempts to evade prior enforcement. Where appropriate, we may offer an appeal route.

14 • Service availability and changes

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, internet failures, security incidents, third-party outages, game removals, migrations and feature changes may interrupt access.

We may add, redesign, restrict or retire features. We will try to avoid unnecessary loss of user data and provide notice for material changes when reasonably practical.

15 • Security and responsible testing

Do not test Games Overload security in a way that risks user data, disrupts service or accesses information without authorisation. If you discover a suspected vulnerability, report it privately and give us a reasonable opportunity to investigate before public disclosure.

We may preserve security logs and temporarily restrict accounts, sessions, IP ranges, uploads or integrations when needed to investigate abuse or protect the service.

16 • Third-party services and links

Games Overload may link to game developer sites, streaming services, social networks, payment providers, news sources, repositories and other third parties. Those services are controlled by their respective operators and may have their own terms, privacy policies and availability.

We are not responsible for third-party content or services merely because Games Overload links to or embeds them.

17 • Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Games Overload is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise that every game, score, rating, comment, creator claim, news item or external link is accurate, complete, secure or suitable for every user.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded, including applicable consumer rights.

18 • Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where doing so would be unlawful. Subject to that, Games Overload will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of opportunity, loss of reputation, loss of profits, loss of data caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, or loss arising solely from reliance on user-generated or third-party content.

Where the law permits a contractual cap, our aggregate liability relating to a paid Games Overload service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to Games Overload for that service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or £100. This cap does not apply where prohibited by law.

19 • Responsibility for claims arising from your conduct

If you use Games Overload on behalf of a business, studio or professional organisation, that entity agrees to be responsible for reasonable losses, claims and costs arising from its unlawful content, infringement of third-party rights or material breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

This section does not reduce rights available to consumers under applicable law.

20 • Suspension, restriction and termination

You may stop using Games Overload at any time. Account deletion tools may be added to account settings, and you may contact us where a manual process is required.

We may restrict or suspend an account when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, repeated rule violations, fraud, impersonation, abuse, harmful uploads or attempts to undermine platform integrity. Serious conduct may result in immediate restriction.

21 • Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service develops. The current version and effective date will be published on this page. Where a change is material and applicable law requires notice, we will provide reasonable notice through the service or another appropriate channel.

Continued use after an updated version takes effect may constitute acceptance where permitted by law. If fresh affirmative consent is required, we may ask you to accept the updated Terms before continuing to use certain features.

22 • Governing law and disputes

Unless mandatory local consumer law requires otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable law may hear disputes relating to the service.

Before starting formal proceedings, we encourage users to contact Games Overload so that we can attempt to understand and resolve the issue.

23 • Contact

Questions about these Terms, account issues, legal notices or rights concerns can be sent through the Games Overload contact route when available. Until a dedicated legal mailbox is published, use the account support channel provided on the site.
